Daniel Jakiel is part of a rare club — international cricketers who have represented two nations. For Zimbabwe, he joins PJ Moor and Gary Ballance in that exclusive list.
Jakiel’s international journey began in 2019 when he made two T20I appearances for Zimbabwe, earning a reputation for his slingy action and wicket-taking ability. Fast forward six years, and he is back on the big stage, this time in Malawi’s colours at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, fittingly hosted in Zimbabwe.
I recently caught up with Jakiel, who I’ve had the privilege of playing alongside at Rainbow Cricket Club and the Eagles in Zimbabwe’s domestic league.
