Zimbabwe’s Wesley Madhevere and South Africa’s fast bowler Kwena Maphaka share the record for the most wickets in ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup history.
The pair finished their Under-19 World Cup careers with an impressive 28 wickets each, a remarkable achievement made even more extraordinary by the fact that both made their tournament debuts at just 15 years old.
Madhevere carved his name into the history books by featuring in three ICC Under-19 World Cups — the 2016 edition in Bangladesh, the 2018 tournament in New Zealand, and the 2020 event hosted by South Africa.
Maphaka, meanwhile, reached the landmark in just two World Cup appearances. He was at his devastating best during the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where he claimed 21 wickets and was deservedly named Player of the Tournament.
As attention now turns to the future, fresh talent is set to emerge at the 2026 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6, where the next generation of cricketing stars will look to make their mark.
