Kudzai Oliver Maunze is my best mate—more than that, he is my brother.
A prolific performer in Zimbabwe’s domestic cricket scene, Maunze has amassed over 4,000 First-Class runs. He has also made a significant impact in England’s club cricket circuit, where he has scored more than 6,000 runs, further cementing his reputation as a consistent and accomplished batter.
Despite his impressive record, an international cap for Zimbabwe has remained elusive. The closest he came was being named in Zimbabwe’s Test squad for the series against the West Indies in 2023.
I recently had the privilege of sitting down with Maunze to discuss our friendship, his unwavering dream of representing Zimbabwe on the international stage(though he is at peace if it doesn’t happen), and his experience of unexpectedly trending on social media—”for all the wrong reasons.”
