Masakadza, Taibu, Mawoyo, Chakabva

It all began with Hamilton Masakadza, followed by Tatenda Taibu, then Tino Mawoyo joined the ranks, and Regis Chakabva is the latest member of this impressive quartet.

The question now is: Who will be the fifth member of this exclusive club?

Perhaps it will happen in the country where the last magic occurred — Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe is scheduled for another tour of Bangladesh, where they will play two Tests from April 20-24 and April 28-May 2.

Bangladesh is significant for Chakabva, as it was there that he became the fourth black Zimbabwean to score a Test century back in 2014.

It’s also the country where Taibu recorded his first Test hundred, which remains his highest Test score of 153, achieved in 2005. Similarly, Masakadza reached his career-best score of 158 there, although he scored his first hundred on debut against the West Indies in 2001 at Harare Sports Club.

Tino Mawoyo scored his century at home when he carried his bat against Pakistan at Queens Sports Club in 2011.

There has been a long wait for another Test century from a black Zimbabwean, and with the upcoming tour of Bangladesh, hopes are high for this milestone to be reached, simply because it’s in Bangladesh where most of the magic has occurred.

  1. Wessley Madvere will be the fifth member of this exclusive club. If not him maybe Clive Madande that is if he’s fit enough to play test.
